Usher
Usher Dead? Nah, Just Another Internet Death Hoax Victim
The R&B sensation is the latest victim of what has become quite the trend lately—creating fake celebrity death stories and watching the rumors spread like wildfire on the Internet.
he one announcing the false demise of Usher appears to have originated with Global Associated News, which claimed that the Grammy winner was killed in a car crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The site, it should be noted, is a place for morbid folks to go and plug in a famous person's name into a generator that creates their own celebrity death headlines. Nice, right?
Usher quickly assured fans that there's no need to worry.
"I must've died and went to heaven...Alive and cold kickin ass!!" he tweeted along with a photo showing off his buff bod, later adding: "Livin' Legend!"
Mellisa Gilbert
Melissa Gilbert injured on 'Dancing with the Stars'
Actress Melissa Gilbert was rushed to a hospital moments after competing Monday night on "Dancing with the Stars."
According to a statement issued today, the actress says she is okay, suffering from a mild concussion and some whiplash.
Gilbert had just completed her best performances so far this season with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy and according to reports started complaining about dizziness soon afterward. As a precaution she was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Gilbert tweeted last night that "very soon I will be safely home being taken care of."
After taking a few more looks at last night's dance, there is one moment early on where Gilbert's head appears to touch the floor, though it doesn't appear to be a slam or accidental "drop" by her partner Maks. Of course the camera angle can not always reflect the severity of the point of contact. However, the rest of the dance appears free of head/floor contact by the actress.
Ashley Judd
Ashley Judd protests too much
Ashley Judd, whose recent puffy-faced appearance on a talk show set off a round of snarky ruminating over whether she had had too much "work" done. In the past, when stars got publicly pilloried with comments about their weight or photos of them looking porky on the beach, they generally responded with a brave "I like the way I look" or a defensive "Stop calling me fat!" -- as the headline in a People magazine story quoted Jennifer Love Hewitt saying in response to comments about unflattering shots of her.
But Judd took the debate further than just telling people to leave her alone -- her face was puffy because she was on steroids for an illness (although that is what she said, making it clear she had not had work done.) She wrote an online treatise about a misogynistic culture that degrades all women by objectifying and criticizing their bodies. She also made a good point that no reporter called her office to ask if she had had plastic surgery before speculating about that. I’m not sure how helpful her office would have been, but she’s right, someone should have made the call. She also, surprisingly, included other media comments she had seen that clucked about a weight gain. Her piece, though overwrought, seemed genuinely full of pain.
Having watched Judd in her new TV series “Missing,” I noticed that her face and her figure were a bit fuller than they had been and assumed that she had gained weight. She probably didn’t mean to. If you’re signing up for a TV or movie character that requires weight gain, you alert the media in advance so everyone knows this falling off of perfection was deliberate and for your craft. She didn’t do that.

It didn’t help that the 19-year-old tweeted a photo of herself on Sunday deeply inhaling the contents of a Carl's Jr. takeout bag, writing, "I can't eat it. So I'm just gonna smell the (bleep) out of it! My mouth is LITERALLY watering."
The media instantly pounced, and fans grew concerned. So on Monday, Cyrus took to Twitter to explain why she couldn't eat the great-smelling fast food: she's allergic to it, not dieting or starving herself.
"For everyone calling me anorexic," she wrote, "I have a gluten and lactose allergy. It's not about weight it's about health. Gluten is crapppp anyway!" She added: “Everyone should try no gluten for a week. The change in your skin, physical and mental health is amazing! U won’t go back!"
