Star-Studded Public Memorial Service Held for Mr. Run Run Shaw

Hong Kong entertainment mogul Run Run Shaw passed away on January 7th at the age of 107. Yesterday the public Memorial Service for Mr. Run Run Shaw was held at the Shaw Studios in Tseung Kwan O from 10AM - 6PM. The service had a live webcast on TVB's "MyTV". Many public figures from different fields including politicians, businesspeople, academicians, performing artists, TVB artists and employees, Shaw Brothers' former staff, charity organization representatives and HK civilians were all there to pay their respect to the late "6 Uncle". There were no flower or any special arrangements at the ceremony. There were just 400 seats and soft piano music playing in the background. The atmosphere was concise and simple. TVB artists Kenneth Ma, Astrid Chan, Benjamin Yuen, Penny Chan, Jason Chan, Jack Wu, Sarah Song, Jennifer Shum and a total of 9 artists volunteered to help out at the service to greet the guests. The volunteers were standing for 9 hours until the service ended. Kenneth stood until 3PM before he taking a 15 minute break. Displaying his 'naturally stunned' look once again, Kenneth later expressed in a telephone interview TVB arranged him to help at the service. He said: "I did not feel it was tiring at all. I hoped to contribute a part for 6 Uncle. What we did is actually really minute, it is a kind of respect." Whenever Mona Fong spotted trash on the floor, she would personally go take care of it. Norman Leung said the memorial service was Mona Fong's wish. Mona took initiative to thank the media, she bowed to them and said: "Thank you media friends, thank you. Thank you, thank you!" Sir Run Run's ashes will be sent back to Singapore.
